Jayda Pickett is a recent graduate of New York Law School, where she served as a student advocate and cultivated a legal education grounded in both advocacy and innovation. A first-generation attorney, writer, and community builder, she is passionate about using storytelling to explore identity, belonging, justice, and the human connections that shape our lives.
While her commitment to civil rights and public interest work has informed much of her legal journey, Jayda is equally passionate about the intersection of law and business. She plans to pursue a career in-house, with particular interests in commercial law, strategic partnerships, contracts, risk management, and advising mission-driven organizations. She is drawn to the role of in-house attorneys as collaborative business partners who help organizations grow while navigating complex legal and ethical challenges.
Jayda is the founder of The Bridge Society, a community-centered platform dedicated to fostering authentic relationships through thoughtfully curated experiences, meaningful conversation, and shared learning. Inspired by the belief that genuine connection is one of society's greatest unmet needs, The Bridge Society seeks to create spaces where curiosity, collaboration, and belonging can thrive. Through this work, Jayda combines her interests in entrepreneurship, community building, and storytelling to create experiences that bring people
together in meaningful ways.
A proud alumna of the Ms. JD Fellowship Program, Jayda is also a recipient of the Ms. JD Breonna Taylor & Kenneth Walker Civil Rights Scholarship, which recognizes emerging leaders committed to advancing equity and justice. Throughout law school, she held numerous leadership positions, worked across public and private sector legal settings, and sought opportunities that allowed her to bridge legal analysis with strategic thinking and relationship-building.
As a writer, Jayda is interested in exploring themes of identity, ambition, belonging, leadership, and community. Her writing reflects a belief that stories have the power to challenge assumptions, build empathy, and spark meaningful dialogue. Whether through legal writing, personal essays, or creative nonfiction, she hopes to create work that encourages readers to think more deeply about the ways we connect with ourselves, with one another, and with the world around us.
