Meredith Byrd

Meredith Byrd was born and raised in Birmingham, AL, but upon high school graduation moved to Upstate, SC to continue her education at Anderson University. After graduating magna cum laude with a B.A. in Human Development and Family Studies, she worked as an Early Interventionist in Anderson and Greenville County. Working with families throughout college and as an EI encouraged her to pursue my J.D.

Meredith is a 3L at the University of North Carolina School of Law with a passion for advocating for children’s rights. As a proud beneficiary of public-school education and a former Early Interventionist, she is using her understanding of the law to reinvest in the systems that shaped her. To do so, she contributes as a learner, an advocate, and a friend.

Meredith aims to lead with curiosity and empathy. Since being in law school, she has gotten the opportunity to serve more families through the UNC Family Defense Clinic. Developing the ability to tell a client’s story has been just as integral as practicing proper courtroom procedure. Meredith also contributes to her UNC Law community as the President of Law Students for Reproductive Justice. When not in the classroom or courtroom, you can find her running, reading, baking, or cheering on the Tar Heels. Meredith loves to be outside, to try new foods, and do just about anything if it involves her friends!
