Makayla MK Graham

Makayla Graham is a third-year student at Howard University School of Law and a native of Miami, Florida. She attended the University of Florida, where she earned a B.A. in Criminology and founded Black Women Leaders in Law, an organization dedicated to the empowerment and upliftment of Black women legal scholars.

Before law school, she worked as a Legal Assistant at the Broward County State Attorney's Office, a Legal Intern at the Florida Justice Center, and as a middle school English and Writing teacher. Makayla believes these experiences shaped her understanding of justice and contributed to her passion for the law.

Makayla intends to pursue a career in litigation, as she enjoys the demand for complex problem solving and strategic thinking. She holds a deep commitment to Civil Rights and Public Service where she has served as a Litigation Intern with the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Enjoliqué A. Lett in the Southern District of Florida.

Makayla is deeply invested in her school and community as she believes strongly in giving back and mentorship. She currently serves as the Program Coordinator of the Washington Bar Association Law Student Division. At Howard Law, she serves as Co-Captain of the Charles Hamilton Houston National Moot Court Team, a student attorney in the Civil Rights Clinic, and former Social Action Co-Chair of the 71st Student Bar Association. She also served as Director of Communications for the Mid-Atlantic Black Law Students Association and is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

In the tradition of Howard Law's legacy, she is committed to being a Social Engineer.
