Born in Miami and raised in Broward County Florida, Ashney Francis is a first generation law student and rising second year at Emory University School of Law. The daughter of Caribbean immigrants, Ashney was instilled with the value of education from a young age, driving her to address disparities in educational access within her community. During her undergraduate studies. She founded Liberation Library, a university wide initiative that has donated hundreds of reading resources to incarcerated youth across South Florida. Currently serving as Emory’s first Black Law Student Association Pre-Law Division Liaison, Ashney has built a supportive network for pre-law students across Georgia, empowering other first generation students with the tools and guidance needed for law school success.
